I ended my career moving to another Battalion and for the last few years as a Career Counselor for Army Reserve Soldiers in a 3 state area. I had one deployment in that span - from '08-'09 in Iraq. I moved to another Battalion closer to home and held numerous roles - Detachment Commander, Company Commander, Operations Officer, Logistics Officer, and many other "addition duty" assignments. My first assignment was as a Signal Corps officer, first leading a Platoon leader, and then moved on to be the Executive Officer of the Company. I felt that would make me a better leader in the end. That was all by design - I knew that I wanted to become and officer, but I wanted to know what being enlisted was first. After 5 years, I went to Officer Candidate School and earned my commission. I spent time working in supply and intelligence. I began my 27 year Army Reserve career as an enlisted soldier.
